The liturgical books for chanting the Mass are called the Roman Missal and the Roman Gradual. These books include three types of chant to sing the Mass: the “Acclamations and dialogues” (ex: Greeting, Alleluia,..), the “Ordinary” (ex: Kyrie, Sanctus,..) and the “Proper”. The first two repeat at each Mass, so the congregation can easily join the cantor in singing them.
The “Proper” (Introit, Responsorial, Offertory, Communion) are biblical texts, and change every day, like the readings and the Gospel.
