LESSON FROM EXERCISES A and B : the DO clef on the 4th line (top line) and the FA clef on the 2nd line result in the same positioning of the scale on the 4-line staff.

Solfege exercise C

LESSON FROM EXERCISE C : DO-MI-SO or FA-LA-DO sound similar, and are also called MAJOR TRIADS (a minor third above a major third).

Solfege exercise D

LESSON FROM EXERCISE D : RE-FA-LA or MI-SO-SI sound similar, and are also called MINOR TRIADS (a major third above a minor third).

EXERCISES 1 TO 8 EXPLORE THE “GLORIA PATRI TONES” GIVEN TO US IN THE ROMAN GRADUAL. THESE TONES ARE USED TO SING THE PSALM VERSES FOR THE SPRINKLING RITE, THE INTROIT, THE OFFERTORY AND THE COMMUNION. THEY ARE ALSO USED OFTEN AS SIMPLIFIED VERSIONS OF THE ANTIPHONS (EX: ROSSINI TONES). Download here relevant pages of the Roman Gradual.
